The Hill:Civil rights groups urge Schumer to pass House-approved social spending bill

Vanity Fair:The “New HFPA” Is Ready to Relaunch the Golden Globes. Hollywood Is Skeptical
During the process of internal soul-searching, the HFPA reached out to the NAACP (among other groups) for feedback. Kyle Bowser of the NAACP’s Hollywood bureau agreed to partner with the group. Under the banner of the “Reimagine Coalition,” they are discussing a number of possible projects, including scholarships, mentorships, and a Nigerian film festival. Rather than getting intimately involved in the HFPA’s internal reforms, the NAACP “sought to recruit them to join our efforts to reform the larger ecosystem of the industry,” he says. “We felt that the HFPA could be a case study—a template, if you will, by which the rest of the industry might take heed and make adjustments of their own.”

The first-ever Senate scorecard was spearheaded by the NAACP and was in partnership with the National Action Network, National Coalition of Black Civic Participation, Fighting for Our Vote Initiative, National Council of Negro Women, and the National Urban League. Upon its release, Derrick Johnson, President and CEO of the NAACP, noted that the country is now in a “war for our democracy,” pointing to the American Recovery Act, Freedom to Vote Act, John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, and each Senator’s support for eliminating the filibuster as reasoning for their grade.

Though the majority of eligible Black adults have been fully vaccinated (62%) and the numbers of children now being vaccinated also continues a consistent rise, reliable, credible information is still the primary battleground, the release said. Though the majority of eligible Black adults have been fully vaccinated (62 percent) and the numbers of children now being vaccinated also continues a consistent rise, reliable, credible information is still the primary battleground. UPI:Another 5 jurors seated in Kim Potter trial for death of Daunte Wright
The NAACP condemned the shooting of Wright at the time, saying it was an example of police use of excessive force against Black citizens. “Both were fathers, both were Black men, both died at the hands of police,” NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson said in a statement. “Whether it be carelessness and negligence or a blatant modern-day lynching, the result is the same. Another Black man has died at the hands of police.”

The National NAACP sees the RISE for Youth program as an example of Mayo Clinic taking concrete steps toward advancing racial justice.”

WAFF48:Limestone County Draws new redistricting plan after NAACP backlash
Daly says they got the plan done that same day. The NAACP’s concern was that moving those African American’s out of District 3 was done intentionally to dilute the black voter population. District 3 Commissioner Jason Black says that’s not the case, and the map was crafted via software programming.
